Photos of Robert Mitchum's 1948 arrest

Check out this photo gallery of ROBERT MITCHUM's 1948 arrest for marijuana possession here at the LA Times. Mitchum was arrested in a sting by the LAPD. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and was duly photographed mopping floors, etc. The charge was later expunged from his record, although his bad boy reputation and -- surprisingly -- his film career, never faltered. He later said that jail was "like Palm Springs, without the riffraff." Read more on his arrest and other brushes with the law here.

'Out of the Past' declared best film noir of all time

Total Film just released a list of "25 Greatest Film Noirs" and "Out of the Past" was named number one. Can't say I disagree with that! The fantastic dialogue, the twists, and of course the incredible chemistry between ROBERT MITCHUM and Jane Greer all make this one a notch above most other noirs. It's the movie that got me hooked on film noir and on Mitchum!

Nudist Who Threatened President Obama Claims to be Mitchum's Illegitimate Daughter

A Colorado woman who's fought for her right to garden topless and who allegedly threatened President Obama also claims to be the illegitimate daughter of the late ROBERT MITCHUM and her husband claims his father was President Eisenhower.

The DailyCaller reports that Catherine Pierce and her husband Robert are known in Boulder, CO. for "stridently defending their right to walk around in public nearly naked." They were detained for questioning by the Secret Service in Marblehead, Ohio after a waitress overheard Robert Pierce say he was going to “kill Obama and take him down,” according to the Daily Camera. Employees at the cafe described the pair as "very unstable."

Police found a disassembled .22-caliber rifle in the trunk of the pair’s rental car, along with .22- and .38-caliber ammunition, but neither were arrested or charged.

The Pierces are known for gardening in nearly nothing: Catherine, 55, is often topless while her Robert, 62, wears nothing but a thong. The couple live near a school and parents have filed numerous complaints about the duo's failure to cover up.

They're not actually breaking any laws: since the 1980s, it's been legal in Boulder for women to bare their breasts in public, but enough people complained about the Pierces that, in 2010, the city council considered changing the law. The couple filed a lawsuit seeking $100 million in damages, claiming harassment by neighbors and police.

Robert Pierce has told the police that he was the illegitimate son of former President Dwight Eisenhower. On her Facebook page, Catherine Piece lists herself as a “news personality” and claims to be the illegitimate child of late actor Robert Mitchum.

That's even more amusing since Eisenhower disliked Mitchum so much, he refused to have the bad boy actor's films show in the White House
